Saturday, 16 December, will mark the beginning of a week-long cycle of evening events at the Rundāle Palace Museum – a light and sound show “Chandelier Ball in the Palace” which will be complemented by contemporary dance performances created by the choreographer Reinis Rešetins for four evenings.
On 17, 19, 20, and 22 December, three shows with dance performances will take place every evening during which the dancers will dance out the Duke’s preparation for the ball and the court intrigue. One of the most beloved museum guides Olafs Soloveika who will assume the role of the Duke’s valet will bring the guests on a journey through the palace. The Duke’s Dining Room, the Billiard Room, the Duke’s Bedroom where the Duke himself will be dressed up for the ball, the Duke’s Second Study, the Library, the Gold Hall, and finally the White Hall intended for balls will be the stopping points for the evening tour.
Choreographers-dancers Kristaps Vanags, Artūrs Fatjkins, and Annija Glaudāne will participate in the dance performances.
There will be several ways of experiencing the light and sound show “Chandelier Ball in the Palace” which will take place from 16 to 22 December, namely, as a free stroll through the palace exhibition, by listening to the sounds of history and observing the transformations of chandeliers created by the light artist Oskars Pauliņš, or as a tour together with Laura Lūse, the Director of the Rundāle Palace Museum, and Kārlis Anitens, the director of the show, who will enrich the evening with exhilarating stories about the palace and the chandeliers as well as the secrets of the lights and sounds.
Tickets to the event will be available on the website of the Rundāle Palace Museum: https://e-tickets.rundale.net/
