When planning a visit to the Rundāle Palace Museum, we inform that restoration works of the surface covering of Kalna Street (Kalna iela) and Zaļā Street (Zaļā iela) will commence in Bauska from the second half of June 2024, and they will cause traffic restrictions and increase the time necessary for crossing Bauska City. It is planned that the construction work will be continued until late autumn.
The objective of the project is to improve the condition of the transit streets – Kalna and Zaļā Streets – of the local government of Bauska Municipality. The transit street is a section of the State major motor road A7 “Rīga–Bauska–Lithuanian border (Grenctāle)” which is 3.105 km in length and is in bad condition, thus endangering traffic.
The work will also include restoration of the surface covering over the River Mēmele and construction of a roundabout at the beginning of Kalna Street with connections to Mēmeles Street (Mēmeles iela) and Dārznieku Road (Dārznieku ceļš).
As Kalna Street and Zaļā Street are high-intensity streets, traffic jams may occur and the traffic flow will be hindered. Therefore, drivers will have to spend more time in this section of the transit street due to construction work.
In order to avoid traffic restrictions and traffic jams, in planning the route, road users are advised to use by-pass roads through Eleja along the State major motor road A8 “Rīga–Jelgava–Eleja–Rundāles pils” or “Rīga–Iecava–Jelgava–Eleja–Rundāles pils”.
Please note that there may be traffic restrictions elsewhere on the roads. When planning and choosing routes, we invite you to pay attention to the publicly information about road construction works.
