Advent Calendar of 2021

Continuing the popular tradition, at the end of the year, the Rundāle Palace Museum invites you to discover a three-dimensional Advent Calendar on the Museum’s website. This year’s Calendar is dedicated to the theme of glass. From 1st to 24th December, three-dimensional photographs will showcase various glassware – glasses, chalices, bottles, decanters, vials and vases – created between the first decades of the 18th century and the beginning of the 20th century. Usually most of these exhibits cannot be viewed close enough to appreciate the finest engravings, paintings or decorations and to explore the nuances of glass tones, therefore the three-dimensional Advent Calendar is a great way to get better acquainted with the Museum’s collection by surveying it from all angles.

Every day, from 1st December onward, a new window with one item will open in the Calendar. The calendar will be available on the Museum’s website until the end of January 2022.

The creation of three-dimensional Advent Calendars in the Museum is an ongoing collaboration with the studio ‘Ocean Multimedia’, taking place for several years now. Those interested have had the opportunity to take a closer look at porcelain and faience wares, specific items from the Museum’s fan collection, lighting fixtures, small household items – boxes, needles, glass bottles – and last year, the most spectacular specimens in the Museum’s clock collection.

We invite you to take a daily look at the Advent Calendar to see the special item for that day.

Have a bright and peaceful Advent time!
